2. How We Use Data
2.1 Service Operation & Improvement
We use data to:
- Deliver core app features
- Improve map quality and search
- Personalize recommendations
- Prevent fraud
- Analyze performance
2.2 Aggregated & De-identified Data (Commercial Licensing)
Deejiar may generate, use, and license to third parties:
- Aggregated user activity trends
- Aggregated mobility or location insights
- The Deejiar place database (place names, locations, tags, and attributes — see Terms of Use Section 2.2)
- Non-identifiable statistics for commercial and research purposes
Datasets we license externally are genuinely aggregated or de-identified: they do not contain your name, email, or account identity; they do not contain persistent device or user identifiers; and they do not contain raw, user-level location histories. Our data-licensing agreements contractually prohibit recipients from attempting to re-identify individuals.
2.3 User-Generated Content
Uploaded photos and content may be:
- Displayed in the app
- Used to improve location listings
- Included in aggregated or de-identified datasets
- Used to train or fine-tune AI and machine-learning models, including by partners under license (see Terms of Use Section 2.1)
We do not sell personal data that identifies you (see Section 4).
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/EEA)
For users in the EU/EEA, we process data under:
- Contract — to provide the service
- Legitimate Interests — analytics, security, improvement
- Consent — optional tracking or marketing
- Legal Obligations — when required by law
4. Sharing of Information
We share data with:
- Service providers (hosting, analytics, cloud services)
- Data-licensing customers and business partners — who receive only aggregated or de-identified data, or place-database and User Content data licensed under the Terms of Use, and who are contractually prohibited from re-identifying individuals
- Legal authorities when required by law
We do not sell personal data that identifies you (such as your name, email, or account identity) to data brokers or advertisers, and we do not sell or license raw, user-level location histories.
5. Data Retention
- Active account data is retained while your account remains active.
- Aggregated/de-identified derivatives may be stored indefinitely.
- User Content and place submissions may be retained after account deletion under the Terms of Use Section 2.1 license, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
- Deleted accounts (EU): personal data removed within GDPR timelines, subject to the retention described above where lawful.
6. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your residence. EU transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other legal mechanisms.
7. Your Rights
All Users
