Terms of Use

Version 1.3, last updated Jul. 12, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Deejiar, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may discontinue use at any time.

2. User Content License

Users may upload photos, notes, reviews, place submissions, Moments, Journeys, or other materials (“User Content”). You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in your User Content. Deejiar does not claim ownership of what you create — instead, you grant Deejiar the license described below.

2.1 License You Grant to Deejiar

By submitting User Content (excluding personal profile photos/avatars), you grant Deejiar a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid, sublicensable, and transferable license to host, store, use, reproduce, display, distribute, modify, adapt, translate, and create derivative works from your User Content, for any purpose, including commercial purposes, in connection with Deejiar’s services and business and those of its successors and assigns, including distribution through third-party channels, websites, applications, and data feeds.

This license includes the right to:

  • Display and distribute your content within Deejiar and in Deejiar promotional materials
  • Modify or adapt content for technical, formatting, or product purposes
  • Create aggregated, de-identified, or derivative datasets from your content and license such datasets to third parties
  • Use your content to train or fine-tune artificial-intelligence and machine-learning models, and allow others to do the same in connection with their own products and services

This license is perpetual and survives the removal of your content and the deletion of your account, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Aggregated or de-identified derivatives may be retained and used indefinitely, as they no longer identify you.

2.2 Place Data (POIs) and the Deejiar Database

When you submit a place (name, location, tags, product details, and associated photos), your submission is licensed to Deejiar under Section 2.1 and becomes part of the Deejiar database. Specifically:

  • Your submission stays yours; the database is ours. You retain your rights in the material you submit. Deejiar owns the Deejiar database and compilation — the selection, coordination, aggregation, arrangement, enrichment, and curation of place data and User Content — and all intellectual-property and database rights in that compilation. Deejiar may license the database, in whole or in part, to third parties.
  • Contributor credit. You retain credit as the contributor (visible on your profile).
  • Persistence. Because places are shared map infrastructure, place submissions cannot be edited or deleted by the submitter after submission, and the Section 2.1 license to them continues after account deletion.
  • Correction requests. If you believe submitted place information is inaccurate, you may request a correction or removal by contacting hi@deejiar.com. Deejiar will review requests and update or remove data at its discretion.
  • Photos. Photos submitted with a place follow the same terms as other User Content (Section 2.1).
  • Public visibility. Submitted places are publicly visible to all Deejiar users once approved.

2.3 Data Licensing and No Sale of Identifiable Personal Data

Deejiar does not sell personal data that identifies you (such as your name, email address, or account identity), and does not sell or license raw, user-level location histories or records keyed to persistent personal identifiers.

Deejiar may license to third parties: (a) the Deejiar place database (Section 2.2); (b) aggregated or de-identified datasets and insights that do not identify you; and (c) User Content, under the Section 2.1 license, including for AI/ML training. Deejiar’s data-licensing agreements prohibit recipients from attempting to re-identify individuals from de-identified or aggregated data.

3. Account Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in harmful or abusive behavior
  • Misuse the platform

Termination related to App Store subscriptions follows App Store policies. Refunds for subscriptions are handled directly by the App Store.

4. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Deejiar harmless from claims arising from your misuse of the service or your User Content.

5. Subscriptions & Billing

If you choose to subscribe, pricing and renewal terms are displayed within the app. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through your App Store account settings. Deejiar does not manage or process refunds directly.

6. Dispute Resolution

Where legally permitted, disputes may be resolved through individual arbitration. Some jurisdictions may offer consumers additional rights or alternatives.

7. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms when needed. Material changes — including any change to the Section 2 content license or to our data-licensing practices — will be announced in advance through the app or by email, with an effective date, before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Non-material updates may be posted with notice in-app.
